Intro: What is the right way to approach God?

AN ALREADY ESTABLISHED NORM
What was already known about God and living before Him?

THE PROBLEM OF PERFORMANCE
What ripples out when we break God’s good design?

THE SACRIFICE WE TRUST
What happens when I realize that my guilt is too great to bear?

YOU CAN PRAY WITH US ...

1. Worship the LORD for His trustworthiness and graciousness to reveal Himself to us. Praise Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for His kindness to make known to us His holiness and how we may approach Him!

2. How have you lived as if your imagination and performance should be good enough for God? Confess your pride and presumption to Jesus, asking Him to forgive you and heal you to trust His word and His work.

3. Give thanks to Jesus for His mercy to not crush us in our guilt, but also His holiness to insist that God’s justice be satisfied. Thank Him for loving us enough to wash us and restore us to the Father’s good design.

4. Who do you know that is demanding or presumptuous? Pray for them, asking the Lord to help them see the folly of their pride, and that He would help them repent and trust Him instead.

5. Ask the Holy Spirit to bear in you His fruit of love and faithfulness. Pray that He would secure you by Jesus’ commendation (blessing) and empower you with joy to offer His grace and mercy to others.
