Intro: Do you believe that generosity is good for you?

How can we struggle to be genuinely generous, or to accurately measure it?

How is the call to generosity an amazing opportunity?

YOU CAN PRAY WITH US …

1. Worship the LORD for His graciousness and generosity. Praise Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that He is willing to give when no one could ever require anything of Him, especially in light of our sinfulness.

2. How have you lived denying God’s generosity to you and closing your heart to giving freely? Confess your self-interest to Jesus, asking Him to forgive you and to transform your heart to be like Him.

3. Give thanks to Jesus for His indescribable gift to save people like us! Thank Him for giving Himself into our place on the cross, and for giving His Spirit to us to seal His love into our very hearts.

4. Who do you know who struggles to be generous? Pray for them, asking the Lord to first help them see their own brokenness, and then to see His generous mercy.

5. Ask the Holy Spirit to bear in you His fruit of love and His grace of generosity. Read again the call to worship from 2 Corinthians 9, and pray for such a sense of His fullness that you know His promise is true in you.
