Intro: What are your highest expectations for your leaders?

REAL, OVERWHELMING NEEDS
What gets revealed by hunger and a storm?

GRACIOUS PROVISION & POWER
Why does it matter that Jesus will not bend to our agenda for Him?

AN OFFERING & A RECEPTION
What are the only two fitting responses in this narrative?

YOU CAN PRAY WITH US …

  1. Worship the LORD for His power, wisdom, and love. Praise Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that He is holy in all His ways, and able to work even through everything terrifying to secure us in His Grace.

  2. How have you tried to seize Jesus and squeeze Him into your agenda (like your career, romance, or power)? Confess to Jesus your pride and unbelief, asking Him to forgive you and to reconcile you to His heart and Kingdom.

  3. Give thanks to Jesus for how, in His covenant, He pledged His own destruction before He would allow ours. Thank Him for joining helplessness and almighty power together in His death and resurrection.

  4. Who do you know that would settle for too little change in mere politics, or the wrong kind of change in morality? Pray for them, asking the Lord to open their hearts to welcome the good news of His saving work.

  5. Ask the Holy Spirit to work His love and joy into your heart. Pray for His help to live out the Gospel in your perspective on all issues, especially in your expectations of what God would do in your life vs. what is fruitless.
