March 2, 2025 Speaker: Tim Rice Series: Minor Prophets

Passage: Nahum 1:1-8, Nahum 1:14-15

Memory Verse for the Week: Nahum 1:15 (ESV)

Behold, upon the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, O Judah; fulfill your vows, for never again shall the worthless pass through you; he is utterly cut off.

INTRO: How good is a promise for good if evil is not stopped?

OVERWHELMING POWER
Why does it matter that there is someone that the wicked cannot overcome?

TEARING DOWN EVIL IN HIS TIME
What will surely happen to adversaries of the LORD?

SECURING HIS PEOPLE
How is the LORD gracious to save all who turn away from their sin to trust Him?

YOU CAN PRAY WITH US …

  1. Worship the LORD, God Almighty, for His greatness! Praise Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that He is holy, incomparable, and that He alone is un-created – so no creature can possibly rival Him in power.
  2. How have you lived as if you are God’s adversary by exerting your will against His? Confess your prideful rebellion to Jesus, asking Him to forgive you and reconcile your heart to His rule as your King.
  3. Give thanks to Jesus that even in the face of the threat of our sin, death and hell that He became our stronghold. Thank Him for satisfying justice (dying in our place) and conquering death (by His resurrection).
  4. Who do you know that doubts that they are culpable before God? Pray for them, asking the Lord to open their eyes to their spiritual peril and that He would give you openings to talk with them about Jesus.
  5. Read John 10:1-5, 14-15.  Ask the Holy Spirit to help you trust that Jesus really does know those who take refuge in Him. Pray for such security in Christ that, like King David (Psalm 23), you would fear no evil.

The Facilitator is a study tool designed to help you engage with the weekly sermon through the five elements we incorporate in our Community Groups; Get Acquainted & Sharing, Sermon Study, Mission, Worship and Prayer. This tool will be made available Monday morning to give us the opportunity to look back at what we heard on Sunday.
