Positioning Ourselves for Faithfulness

January 9, 2025 Speaker: Tim Rice Series: Stand Alone

Passage: Luke 11:1-4, Luke 11:9-13

Memory Verse for the Week: Luke 11:10-13 (ESV)

“For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

INTRO: What are your most significant habits?

DEPENDENT & INDEPENDENT
How has the LORD designed us to relate to Him?

REDEEMED BACK INTO UNION
What has God done to redeem us from our deadly separation and seal us into an eternal bond with Him?

POSITIONED FOR GOD’S WORK
How does God graciously provide for our growth?

YOU CAN PRAY WITH US …

  1. Worship the LORD for His willingness to listen to you. Praise God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that, in Christ, He hears us – receiving our praise, welcoming our confession, and answering our cries for help.
  2. How (or in what circumstances) are you practically prayerless? Confess your pride and unbelief to Jesus, asking Him to save you here also. Ask the Lord to forgive you and work a growing confidence in Him into your heart.
  3. Give thanks to Jesus for His work in making it possible for you to be God’s adopted child! Thank Him for His willingness, on the Cross, to be not heard so that you could – by mercy – be heard.
  4. Who do you know that is in need, whether a co-worker, neighbor, or friend? Ask the Father to hear you on their behalf and to work in their life to give them His joy and Presence.
  5. Ask for insight into how to pray and for wisdom in your schedule to gain time to pray. Read Luke 11:1-13 and ask the Spirit to help you trust the access you’re given in Christ and to pray as you should.

The Facilitator is a study tool designed to help you engage with the weekly sermon through the five elements we incorporate in our Community Groups; Get Acquainted & Sharing, Sermon Study, Mission, Worship and Prayer. This tool will be made available Monday morning to give us the opportunity to look back at what we heard on Sunday.
