The Spell of Self-Salvation
September 20, 2024 Speaker: David Springer Series: Galatians
Passage: Galatians 3:1-9
Memory Verse for the Week: Galatians 3:5-6 (ESV)
Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?

FOOLISHNESS
FATHER ABRAHAM
YOU CAN PRAY WITH US …
1. Praise God for being the author and perfecter of our faith. Praise the risen Christ, for the salvation that is only offered to us in the Gospel. Praise the Holy Spirit for His miraculous role in our salvation and sanctification.
2. Consider where we have deviated from the one true Gospel, in foolish attempts to add to the finished work of Christ. Confess where you are trusting in your works to validate your standing before God.
3. Give thanks to God for His unmerited favor and for the miraculous gift of faith. Thank Jesus for His sacrificial death and the Spirit’s work in our lives!
4. Who do you know that is under the spell of a works-based righteousness? How can you relate to them and offer them the hope of the Gospel?
5. Ask the Spirit to see the Gospel with clarity. Pray that God would help us to rest in His covenant promises and to rely on His miraculous work.
The Facilitator is a study tool designed to help you engage with the weekly sermon through the five elements we incorporate in our Community Groups; Get Acquainted & Sharing, Sermon Study, Mission, Worship and Prayer. This tool will be made available Monday morning to give us the opportunity to look back at what we heard on Sunday.
