INTRO: A perpetually elusive question is: “What or who is right?”
HEAVENLY AUTHORITY & MISSION
Why can Jesus speak in a way that no one else can?
INSIDE OUT & UPSIDE DOWN
How do we get “righteousness” so wrong?
AN ALIEN RIGHTEOUSNESS
How is it possible, if we have been unrighteous, to become and remain righteous?
YOU CAN PRAY WITH US …
1. Worship the LORD for His holiness and righteousness. Praise Him, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, that He is purely good and that He is the basis for all that we were designed to be in our character and conduct.
2. How have you lived as if you are a standard unto yourself, and as a result, how have you hurt your neighbor and defied your Maker? Confess your selfish pride to Jesus, asking Him to forgive you and restore your heart.
3. Give thanks to Jesus for His gracious work to forgive us and restore us. Thank Him for atoning for our guilt by His death in our place, and for healing our heart by the gift of His Spirit indwelling.
4. Who do you know that struggles to follow Jesus from the heart? Pray for them, asking the Lord to help them in their very soul, as He has helped you, to both adore and trust Him as the Only One who is worthy of your love.
5. Ask the Holy Spirit to bear in you His fruit of love and goodness. Pray for heart transformation to trust that He “is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)
