What Is True

August 16, 2020 Speaker: David Springer Series: This is How We Know

Passage: 1 John 4:1-6

Memory Verse for the Week: 1 John 4:1-2 (ESV)

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.

THE SEARCH FOR TRUTH

THE SUBSTITUTUTES FOR TRUTH

THE SOURCE OF TRUTH

YOU CAN PRAY WITH US ...

1. Worship the Lord God Almighty for His trustworthiness. Praise Him, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that He is truth, speaks truth and guides us into truth.

2. In what ways are you prone to believe the lies that the enemy and the world have used to deceive your flesh? Confess to Jesus your tendency to wander from truth and your desires for idols.

3. Thank God for sending Jesus to come in the flesh and the Spirit for guiding us into all truth.

4. What would it look like for you to be led by the Spirit and not by the flesh? Where are you living like He who is in you has not overcome the world?

5. Who do you know that is currently being led astray by the deceitfulness of sin? Who needs you to point them to the source of truth?
