Membership

Interested in becoming a member or learning more about Trinity?

We want church membership to be meaningful for you, so we’ve developed an intentional and clear process.

  • It begins with attending The Weekender, a two-day event that introduces you to the history, the heart, and the heading (mission & vision) of Trinity.
  • It continues with involvement in community, where you know and are known by others and live out the “one anothers” of Scripture.
    • This will normally be in a Community Group.
    • For students, this will be your F.R.A.T. small group.
    • For Campus Outreach students, this will be your C.O. small group.

The next step is to complete the membership application. Once you’ve completed the application, you will be contacted by Theresa Riggs to schedule an interview with one of the elders at Trinity, together with your Community Group or small group leaders.

All information provided in the application will be held in confidence and shared only with the Shepherding Team, elders, and your Community/Small Group leaders.

If you have any questions as you complete the membership application, please contact Theresa Riggs.

The 5 C's - Why Are We Where We Are?
The article explains why Trinity Presbyterian focuses its ministry in downtown Lakeland. We believe the most influential forces shaping the city—what we call the “5 C’s”: Civic leadership, Commerce, Culture, Class, and Color—are concentrated within a two-mile circle around downtown. Because political leaders, businesses, cultural institutions, and diverse economic and racial groups are located there, transforming this area with the gospel will influence the entire city. When leaders, workers, artists, and communities are changed by Christ, their influence spreads outward. Therefore, even if it is difficult or uncomfortable, serving downtown is seen as the most strategic and impactful way to reach Lakeland.

Gospel Article - What do we mean by the Gospel?
The gospel is the good news that God forgives sinners through Jesus Christ and restores them to Himself. The Gospel story follows four main themes:

Creation
- God is holy and created humans to live for Him.

Fall
- Humanity rebelled and is guilty and unable to save itself.
Redemption - Jesus came as God in the flesh, lived perfectly, died for sin, and rose again.

Repentance and Faith
- We must turn away from being our own God and trust in Christ alone.
The gospel not only saves but also produces ongoing transformation, deeper love for God, and participation in the church community.

Ministry Presuppositions - How can we fulfill our calling to advance the cause of Christ in our city?
What is Trinity Presbyterian’s strategy for advancing Christ’s kingdom in Lakeland? We emphasize the transforming power of the gospel to change individuals, families, and culture. We expect Christ’s kingdom to grow as more people believe and mature in faith. Our mission prioritizes reaching those without Christ, even when uncomfortable. And we recognize that gospel work involves sacrifice and spiritual conflict, while relying on prayer and God’s power to accomplish what human effort cannot.
