A Dream Come True
Maybe you recall getting your first job. Maybe you’re a parent. Perhaps you’ve bought a house. Can you recall the feeling of when a BIG milestone went from being a dream to a reality? I can still remember after college graduation, arriving at Florida State for my first day of campus ministry. I will never forget the day our first son was born. And I vividly recall the day my wife walked me through what would be our first house.
Well, this weekend at Trinity is one of those enormously significant milestones. The Campus Outreach ministry team will finally be on site for the first time. These committed men and women are preparing to start ministry here in the fall of 2018, but this weekend they’re here to be introduced formally. There are a number of ways this to meet them. First, join us Sunday (12/17) for our church-wide breakfast at 8:45a in the Fellowship Hall. Second, the team will be introduced in worship at 10:15a in the Sanctuary. Finally, we will have a meet and greet Sunday evening from 6-9p at The Red Door (733 E Palmetto Street).
For over a decade I’ve prayed for God to raise-up campus ministry staff to help us reach our area campuses. Reaching college students is indescribably strategic. All over our country, students between the ages of 16 and 25 make most of their biggest life decisions – who they will follow, who they will marry, and what they will do as a calling. And to think of how many thousands of students in our city (and county, and region) do that without Jesus is heart-breaking.
So we have prayed. We have prayed for years that God would raise-up workers for this harvest. And this weekend, we get to see the tangible proof of our Lord answering these prayers. And I can’t wait for you to meet them
Things to pray for:
– Thanksgiving. Give thanks to the Lord for keeping His promise in Matthew 9, calling us to pray that He would raise-up workers for this harvest of college students in our area.
– David Springer, and his wife Jamie. Pray for David as the Area Director. Ask the Lord to give him wisdom, faithfulness, insight and joy in his work as he leads and oversees all of these Campus Outreach staff.
– The roster. Pray for all of these various young men and women as they leave their homes to move here to help us reach our region for Christ: Tabby Akers (from Burlington, NC), Graham Albright (Columbus, OH), Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, OH), Nate Church (Greensboro, NC), Kristin Littlejohn (Ocean Isle Beach, NC), Asunji Maddox (Goldsboro, NC), Emily McMurtrey (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), Molly Weiss (Greensboro, NC), Aaliyah Williams (Goldsboro, NC), and Sam Yan (Cary, NC
